Whether running for class office Whether running for class office back in our college days, or in more recent years, on our long walks along the beaches of South Jersey, Torn consistently provided us with the calm, but firm, voice amidst the varied perspectives of our diverse band of friends. Serious philosophical discussions could be gently diverted by the flash of one of Tom's witty one-liners. Tom eventually adopted Gandi-like restraint techniques in resisting the provocations from the conservatives of our "McLaughlin Group," mostly unsuccessfully. While we can never replace that voice of our social conscience filled with such reasoned and persistent passion, we will happily remember the voice, the message, and the messenger forever. Larry Moy |
