What Is a Father?

He is someone who even though he already had seven children, wanted you too.

He is someone who goes to work, comes home and spends two hours in his vegetable garden showing you how to grow stuff.

He is someone who carried you to bed when you fell asleep watching TV with him.

He is someone who wanted to take you with him when he went somewhere in his car.

He is someone you never heard curse, argue with his wife, take a drink and never hit you.

He is someone you could look up to and be proud of.

He is someone that you wanted to make proud of you.

He is someone who would take his last dime and give it to family and friends when in time of need.

He is someone that when you did something wrong you could see it in his eyes and hear it in his voice that your punishment hurt him worse than it did you.

He is someone who spent his Social Security trying to win the lottery, so he could help you with the money.

He is someone who on his death bed reminded his children and grandchildren to look out for you.

That is what a Father is to me. He is Love.

      I called him Grandfather.
